Black Morel in Tula Oblast: where to look

Black Morel: the species in brief
How to tell it
A dark, conical or elongated head with deep pits and ridges, attached to a pale hollow stem. The whole fruitbody is hollow from top to bottom.
Where it grows
Often on disturbed ground, including woodland edges, old burn sites, clearings, orchards, riverbanks and landscaped areas with wood chip.
In the kitchen
Cook thoroughly before eating. Morels must never be eaten raw or undercooked, and no single cooking method should be treated as a safety test.
Nutrition
Low in calories. Composition varies with species, age and water content.
