My spots
The forecast is computed on a grid of sample points. You do not walk a grid point — you walk your own wood, and you know things about it the model never will. Saving the spot is how you get back to it.
Why five kilometres matter
A spot you pick again by eye lands somewhere near, and near is a different forecast: rainfall, soil moisture and canopy all change across a few kilometres of the same forest. A saved spot returns you to the patch you meant, not to its neighbourhood.
Where the list lives
In this browser, and nowhere else. We do not ask you to sign in, so there is no account to attach a spot to — and writing the coordinates of your wood to our servers without asking is precisely the thing this project promises not to do. The cost is stated plainly rather than hidden: clear your history and the list goes with it, and it will not follow you to your phone.
What we never see
The spots themselves. They are written by your browser and read by your browser; no request carries them to us. The shared map elsewhere on the site shows only places people deliberately published, and even those are coarsened to a cell of roughly 250 km² before anyone sees them.
