FungRadar publishes a forecast of foraging activity: an index, per species and per area, built from weather, land cover and terrain. It answers when, not where. It is not a map of finds, and it does not know your particular wood.

The index is a probabilistic estimate of activity, not a promise of a full basket. We publish how well it performs, including the figures that do not flatter us, on the «how we check» page. A high index does not mean mushrooms at the particular spot you drive to; a low one does not mean there are none.

Decisions you make from it — where to travel, how long to walk, what weather to set out in — are your own.

This is the most important clause in the document, and it has no exceptions and no setting that switches it off.

The site names species, seasons and dangerous lookalikes. It does not identify what is in your hand, and it never confirms edibility. Several deadly species closely resemble edible ones, and some cannot be told apart from a photograph at all. Identification in the field is yours; where you are not certain, the answer is to leave it. If you believe you have eaten something poisonous, contact emergency services immediately — do not wait for symptoms.

Whether you may pick at a given place is not something this site can currently tell you, and we would rather say so than guess. Rights differ by country, by landowner and by protected status: Italy licenses foraging region by region, in England it depends on the status of the land and the owner's permission, and nature reserves have their own rules almost everywhere. Some species are protected by law and picking them is an offence.

Before you go, check the rules for the specific place you are going to. A legality layer is the next thing we are building; until it exists, nothing on this site should be read as permission.

The service is provided as it is. Forecasts depend on external data sources that can be unavailable, and when a figure cannot be computed honestly the page says so rather than showing an invented one. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Text, design and the forecast model are ours. The underlying data comes from open sources under their own licences — these are named, with their licences, on the data page, as those licences require.
