A field over the measurement network. The colour here is for the leading species at each point, not for this one; a per-species layer is computed for one region so far.
Common Puffball in Basel-Landschaft: where to look

Common Puffball: the species in brief
How to tell it
A white to cream, pear-shaped fruitbody covered in small spines or granules. As the spines fall away they leave a fine net-like pattern on the surface.
Where it grows
In woodland, on litter and decaying wood, and sometimes in grassy clearings or beside paths.
In the kitchen
Use only young, firm specimens. Slice and fry soon after picking; puffballs do not keep well.
Nutrition
Low in calories. Nutritional values vary considerably with age and water content.

A regional boundary means nothing to a mushroom, and the next region is sometimes closer than the far side of your own. The index is for today.
